As anyone with naturally curly hair can attest to, the issues we have with frizz, humidity, and "afro days" is sometime's enough for us to seriously consider a crew cut, at least for the summer! I can't tell you how many products I've tried, which, I was assured by overly made-up sales persons and glossy magazine ads, would not wilt under humidity and get gooey, or leave my hair so stiff I was afraid it would snap off. It was quite by accident (desperation?)that I bought several "Deva Curl" products in the HOPE it would offer me some support and definition to my curls, without being stiff, and without "flopping" or frizzing after a few hours. I am used to the "trial and error" approach to make-up and styling products...I've probably thrown away more products than I've used. (which is why the bottle of AnGell is so small, it was the only one available in a trial size in case I had to toss it) I'm pleased to report, I shall be buying the large bottle of AnGell next time. In the pic, from left to right, "B'leave in" curl boost and fertilizer, "AnGell" hyperangellic conditioning gel, "Mist-er Right" lavender curl revitalizer, and "Set it Free" moisture lock. I LOVE LOVE LOVE these products. After washing my hair, and towel drying, I scrunch a liberal amount of B'Leave in through my hair, followed by a slightly smaller amount but still quite liberal in my opinion, of AnGell. Sometimes I scrunch dry with a diffuser at this point, and sometimes I use the Set it Free spray then scrunch/diffuse. The combination of the B'leave In and the AnGell leave my curls very well defined, but touchably soft, never stiff, and free to move and bounce...never leaving me with that Oh-So-Dated "Jehri Curl" look so popular in the 80's. Seems the Set it Free "unlocks" the set of the AnGell a bit, still leaves hair in control, but not quite as well defined. I usually don't use the Set it Free (zesty lemon-lime scented!) for most days, if I'm going to use a curling iron to soften the curls, I think it's helpful. As for "Mist-er Right" - this is the one DevaCurl product I would use if I could only use one. It's a revitalizer, anytime you need to spiff up your hair, like in the morning, or after some effort or something, where you really don't want to or don't have time to wash it and do it all over again...does a fantastic job...just spray it lightly and scrunch, with or without a diffuser. A winning characteristic of Mist-er Right for me, it's lavender scented! (I love lavender!)
Bottom Line: If you have naturally curly hair and like to wear it that way (or don't have much choice) these are the products for you! If you can only afford 1-2 of the products, get the AnGell and the Mister Right.
